Stainless steel is a corrosion-resistant alloy of iron, chromium and, in some cases, nickel and other metals.
Stainless steel is also aesthetically appealing, extremely hygienic, easy to maintain, highly durable and offers a wide variety of aspects. As a result, stainless steel can be found in many everyday objects. It also plays a prominent role in an array of industries, including energy, transportation, building, research, medicine, food and logistics.

Overview of Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel
Duplex stainless steel 2205 alloy is a duplex stainless steel composed of 21% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel-nitrogen alloy. It has high strength, good impact toughness and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance.
Compared with austenitic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel 2205 has twice its compressive strength. Compared with 316L and 317L, the designer can reduce its weight. Alloy 2205 is especially suitable for the temperature range of -50°F/+600°F. Under strict restrictions (especially for welded structures), it can also be used at lower temperatures.
Features of duplex stainless steel 2205
Compared with 316L and 317L austenitic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel 2205 alloy has superior performance in resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion. It has high corrosion resistance. Compared with austenite, it The coefficient of thermal expansion is lower and the thermal conductivity is higher.

Commonly Used Grades
304 Stainless Steel and 316 Stainless Steel
Part of the austenitic family of stainless steel sheet grades, 304 stainless steel, and 316 stainless steel are among the most widely used.
304 stainless steel sheet is most notably present in industrial applications and kitchen equipment. 304 stainless steel sheet is a heat-resistant grade, offering good corrosion resistance to many chemical corrodents, as well as industrial atmospheres. With good formability, 304 stainless steel sheet can be readily welded by all common methods
An extra low carbon variation, 304L stainless steel sheet, avoids harmful carbide precipitation due to welding. This variation offers the same corrosion resistance as 304 stainless steel sheet, but with slightly lower mechanical properties.
316 stainless steel sheet is widely used for pumps, valves, textile and chemical equipment, pulp & paper and marine applications.
This grade is more resistant to corrosion and pitting than 304 stainless steel sheet and offers higher strength at elevated temperatures. In addition, 316L stainless steel sheet is an extra low carbon variation that helps avoid carbide precipitation due to welding.
304 vs 316 Stainless Steel: What is the difference?
Now to the question of 304 vs. 316; while both are good for corrosion resistance, strength, welding, and heat resistance, 316 gets the slight edge in all these categories due to variation in alloying elements.
Chemical Properties of Frequently-used Stainless Steel Material Grade
Characteristics & Applications
All stainless steels are iron-based alloys that contain at least 10.5% chromium. This helps with stainless steel grades being corrosion resistant; an important factor due in large part to the varying types of environments in which the end products are used.
Beyond chromium, the rest of the makeup of each stainless steel grade is defined by various alloying elements, which control the microstructure of the alloy.
